What is 'Heal The Soil'?

Picture
We like to keep things simple, No Phil-O-Sofies, No Religion,
No Politics, No Campaings, No Activism, No Critisisum,
No Talking about problems.... dont worry!
But we make lot of spelling mistakes, we are farmers not language experts.

We like simple solutions and we believe we have found a good one...

"Let they food be thy medicine, and thy medicine be thy food" Hippocrates.

Everything, absolutely everything starts with food. How its grown, where its grown, who its grown for, and how it is consumed. If we sort out our food system sustainably, planet will be just fine like she always was!

"Heal the soil" is one simple solution to tackle our social and environmental challenges. We take care of our soil, our natural resourses and manage our water use, we will get back our green planet. At HTS (Heal the soil) we do not wait for governments, policy makers, huge organizations or big companies to initiate such projects.
We do it 'One seed at a time, One house at a time'.

In time and history, every civilization which has flourished across the world has always been around primary produce, our food. Food, water and shelter has and will always be our basic need. Our approach with HTS is to create self sustaining environments where low income rural families can be self sufficient when it comes to basic needs, and if they get good at it they will earn extra income.

This is how we do it!
With the help of organic farming experts, community leaders and volunteers, we help start-up small vegetable gardens in village homes, provide organic seeds and training to local people which enables them to grow their own organic veg, medicinal plants, herbs and fruits in their own premises using permaculture methods.

Permaculture also means permanent agriculture. Its a way to mimic evergreen forests by choosing plant varieties in such a combination that all most all the species grown can be used for human consumption, for building houses and energy use. This method does not need extra water, extra land or extra energy inputs, in fact the beauty of this concept is that it uses all the organic waste like kitchen waste, grey water, dry leaves and such things which we find around any settlements. Here the waste becomes presious and waste management becomes need rather than a liability.

Fresh organically grown food is more nutritious, It saves money as this families do not have to buy everything from the market, and by using permaculture method, plants produce in abundance with less and less labor input down the years, this extra harvest also earns them extra income with co-op sales, farmers market or sending their produce to big town and cities. For remote locations, most of the greens and veges can be sun dried using home made sun dryer, dehydrated food can be packed and stored for much longer time and can be send to far distances.
